Christmas Classics

Just as my family has it’s holiday movie tradition at Thanksgiving, Husby's family has theirs at Christmas. Every Christmas Eve they watch...

A Christmas Carol.

Not the Jim Carey version that came out last year, or the version that came out in the early 80s, no, they like to watch the version with Alastair Sim. The one that came out half a century ago.

It's also the one that frightened the bejesus out of me as a little child.

Far be it from me to deny Husby his family tradition, but while he was hiding under the covers to shield his eyes from the Spirit of Christmas Yet To Come (to this day, he still won’t watch scary movies...), I was gayly singing along to the Muppet Family Christmas or anticipating the next time The Christmas Toy or Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas would be on television.

So until Babes is old enough to handle the scary parts of Husby’s Christmas Classic, we’ve reached a compromise:

After all, what's Christmas without a little Kermit and Miss Piggy?

Its funny b/c for some reason Shrek is now a christmas favorite in our house. How did that happen? My 4 year old did watch grinch last night so that made me feel a little better. I guess I need to introduce her to the muppets.:)

I LOVE the old Christmas Carol too!!

Not gonna lie, I don't watch anything Muppet though. They're pretty freaky.

Also, I can't survive the season without multiple viewings of It's a Wonderful Life. It's so necessary.

My husband has to watch the same version when we decorate the tree every year. One December, I had my wisdom teeth out and they wrapped my head in a bandage and he said I looked just like Jacob Marley from that old version. Nice.
