Since Babes began walking,
Cue to a morning news show discussing Mother’s Day presents - robots for the home. I promised myself to never ask for an appliance for Mother’s Day, but I was oddly intrigued by the automatic stirrer (the review wasn’t so great) and robot vacuum (whose review WAS great - if you don’t own a pet).
And now I can’t stop thinking about it.
How wonderful it would be to walk barefoot on my kitchen floor, not wondering if I’ve just stepped on a Cheerio or an old piece of string cheese. To automatically set a timer for scheduled cleanings. To never look at my broom again. Then came the ants...
Little buggers that find a way in no matter how many times you spray. We have baits out, but I’m thinking it’s time to stop avoiding the floor and fix the real problem that’s brought them here - toddler floor buffet.
So, before I shell out a ton of cash for a robot (hey iRobot, if you're reading - I gladly accept free gifts! Hint, hint. :) , do any of you have a Roomba? Which one and what do you think of it? I’d be using it on hardwood floors, mostly, and we don’t have any pets - but after giving birth my hair sheds about as much as a Golden Retriever in springtime.
How do you combat this never ending battle?
p.s. If you think I'm exaggerating, check out the photo I just posted on Facebook.

I so need a Roomba!
I don't have kids, but I have a cat and the roomba is AH MAY ZING! Seriously, I'd marry it if it would just ask me already. I think i have this one?

the only thing about it is it fills up quickly, so you have to diligent about emptying it. As a plus, if you have any pets, it's super entertaining to watch my cat's reaction when the roomba chases it around the living the room.
I've always kind of wanted a roomba... They sound like they might double as an entertaining baby/cat toy :)
I have one and it's good for light cleaning but doesn't replace a real vacuum. My side brushes have also broken off many times.
My in-laws have a roomba (I don't know which one) and they love it! They have hard wood floors and an area rug and it works great for them. I would love to get one but it would scare the mess out of our dog!
I don't know own one but I'm intrigued to hear the reviews! :)
My parents have one and they love it (especially with all the hard wood floors). I would totally buy one, but my dog would be a pain in the arse with it. You should do it...
We are thinking about getting one too! he dust problem in Beijing is terrible and sweeping every day after work makes me crazy. If you get one be sure to let us know how you like it!

Ohhhh it looks soo amazing~ try it out and let me know!!
I had a roomba for a while. I wasn't thrilled. I still say get a dog. Your floors will be sparkling...when they aren't covered with muddy paw prints ;)
don't waste your money - they get stuck, the miss spots, they don't do a good job on the spots they actually get - we had one that ended up in the dumpster - then my MIL bought us another one which was even worse, i spent more time dealing with it then i would have just vacuuming myself - it got to the point that i was tempted to hurl it off our balcony
We have two dogs, and the Roomba has been a lifesaver....the dogs leave it alone and it just goes around and does its thing. I love that it can fit underneath our beds and couches and get the hard to reach places that don't always get cleaned when I'm doing a quick vacuum of the house.
